Cantell TV : HD DVR friendly with your pockets
by Ana Maria Ciobanu
Remember the digital video recorder manufacturer TiVo? It launched its "best-in-class" high-definition DVR set-top box in the third quarter of 2006. This week you're in for a new surprise from TiVo: they introduced a more mainstream offering to appeal to the more middle class consumer. the new TiVo HD DVR will be a considerably more affordable option at $299.99 than it's brother, the existing TiVo Series3 HD Digital Media Recorder with an $800 price. Forrester Research analyst James McQuivey commented in a Washington Post report that TiVoâs latest set-top device won't sell millions in the beginning but that given the desire for HD everything, it would have been a mistake for TiVo not to introduce a more affordable product. The friendly with pockets HD DVR is equipped with dual tuning, which means you can watch a prerecorded show while simultaneously recording two separate HD broadcasts. It also has dual slots for CableCard. The new model will differ from it's expensive brother by missing the stylish edges, curves, and detailing throughout its exterior design. However despite an aesthetic difference, I'm very excited to get my hands on one.
