PS3 will be around for ten years
by Ana Maria Ciobanu

Bad publicity is publicity. These months Sony understands this saying the best. They are forced to give interviews everywhere and explain why PS3 is so expensive, why it is better than the other gaming consoles. I reckon they're pretty much enjoying the cone of attention and even though Xbox and Nintendo are way ahead of them when it comes to sales they act like they have nothing to worry about and like their product has a very good price for what it offers. I'm beginning to buy their strategy because it suddenly makes sense, if its true. I used to laugh when I heard Sony "supports the next generation" and I thought "It means that the next generation will be way richer and will afford your PS3". But if you think about it, Sony has a point. They say why should we support this generation's technology and use DVD when we can prepare for the future needs of our clients and introduce next generation technology right now with Blu-Ray. If you look at it even closer, you will see PlayStation 2 has ruled and still rules in many ways and that it took about seven years till the next console showed up:PS3. PS3 is designed to last about ten years on the market and it is true when you think of something this much in advance you have to fill the gap with advanced technology. I'm glad I can understand what they're doing now but they still need a very good image strategy to last on the market because even though their PS3 is bound to last ten years, technology around it won't stop evolving and who knows what game console will appear on the market in two years, one year, or even tomorrow at a very low cost..
